Health and Safety is often seen as negative or an unnecessary expense, a bit of a drain to workers who just want to get the job done. That's why people seem to take a break when the health and safety guy comes around; or run to their van to put on the hard hat which they just forgot to put back on after taking a break. Now this doesn't happen on the big sites or large companies, because they have loads of money to throw at safety, right? The smaller companies can't possibly achieve the same results!

It is good practice, builds a rapport, and closes the distance between the workers and the safety guy.
